As all different companies produce different type of cell phones to attract new customers. But as we know how RIM is irriational while developing new devices with affordable budget smartphones from its bag, which comes out as a result Blacberry Curve 8520.
We all know that RIM is quite irrational when it comes down to developing new devices. And this is because all developers are trying to entice more and more customers by creating some truly unique devices that come along with interesting features. One of these creations is the Blackberry Curve 8520,
a great mid-budget Smartphone that looks like any other Blackberry device.
But even though the Blackberry Curve 8520 comes with the typical look that characterizes RIM’s Smartphones, it is definitely different from most of these products. Therefore, the future purchasers must know that the Curve 8520 provides a display of 2.46 inches, optical trackpad and the “traditional” Blackberry QWERTY keyboard. It also comes with four distinct keys, which activate different functions, such as Menu, Back, Accept and End calls.
The phone weights 106gms, bringing along the regular Blackberry Smartphone dimensions of 109 x 60 x 13.9mm. The back of the Smartphone accommodates a camera of 2 megapixels that does not provide any advanced characteristics, such as autofocus and flash capabilities. However, a great thing about this device is the fact that it does not show any keys on its edges. Because the rubberized edge covers these keys, it seems that the keys are actually growing from the case.
In addition, there is an important drawback that mainly relates to the appearance of the device. Although the Curve 8520 is a cheap Smartphone, its plastic case actually delivers a much cheaper look. The only pretty addition, which somehow improves its physique, is the rubberized plastic that can be observed running around its edges. Besides looking pretty nice, this addition also ensures a great feel.
The case houses a dedicated button for voice command, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB port, camera and volume keys and microSD slot, which is placed right underneath the back hood. This Smartphone also delivers a great surprise, which consists of three music keys that are built into a Blackberry device for the first time.
The Blackberry Curve 8520 comes with a great TFT display that supports 65K colors and ensures a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. And even though the display shows only 2.46 inches, its wide form actually ensures a great web browsing experience. Additionally, the image quality is quite good, providing a nice contrast, good brightness and vivid colors.
However, it is important to know that the image quality pales when the sunlight hits the display. As well, the maximum resolution is of only 320 x 240 pixels for videos and 1600 x 1200 for stills. The device runs on the Blackberry 4.6, which does not provide a really great interface. This type of interface is actually more suitable for texts rather than images.
Additionally, the potential users should know that the device is run by Marvell 512MHz that ensures a pretty powerful base by providing 256 Flash memory and 130MB free internal space, which can be extended up to 32GB with the help of the microSD card. By analyzing the aforementioned details, we cannot say that the Blackberry Curve 8520 is the worst device; however, we cannot say that it is the best one either. Most probably, the Curve 8520 is suitable for those purchasers who are looking for a cheap Smartphone alternative, without demanding any advanced features and spectacular capabilities.
