Another type of portable entertainment is contained on many of today's mobile phones.  A mobile phone is no longer just to talk to a friend while on the move. A mobile phone is used for sending voice and text messages.  You can access the internet to receive and send email messages and to browse the web.  Your mobile phone will allow you to take digital pictures, both still and video and to send those images to friends or to store them on the phone or on a computer. A mobile phone can play your favorite songs and even take pieces of those songs and make a ring tone from them. You can download the songs from the internet or from friends' copies. Of course, with Bluetooth capability, you can use all the features of a mobile phone without disturbing those around you.

 

Music players such as IPod or MP3 players can play music choices downloaded from your computer onto a memory card.  One of these memory cards is small in size but can hold literally hundreds of songs so you always have your favorites with you. There are several web sites where you can choose from play lists in order to purchase a single track or album that you can then download to your music player.

 

In the home and office, electronics advances continue in security and surveillance systems.  You can install security cameras that will allow you to maintain visual surveillance of almost any area of your home of business.  Sensors of various types help prevent damage or harm from smoke, fire, and dangerous gases such as radon. You can also set up home security and office security measures that will notify you when there are unauthorized intruders into your space.  The notification can be set up to go to an alarm system at a security company, or it can record the presence and activities of those within camera range.
