Reasons why a wireless MP3 FM modulator has more versatility than a wired model.
Using a wired MP3 FM modulator in your car is a good alternative to commercial radio. But what about when you’re not in your car? When you’re at home, shouldn’t you be able to enjoy the same freedom?
A wired MP3 FM modulator is permanently installed in your dash, which severely limits the ways in which you can use it. On the other hand, a wireless MP3 FM modulator (also called an FM transmitter) can be used in virtually any location. Quality FM transmitters (I’ll explain what I mean by quality later) give you the ability to broadcast audio to any FM radio, which can come in handy in many situations. Let’s consider the following scenarios:
1. Many people enjoy watching television late at night. This may cause some problems if other people in your home or apartment are trying to sleep. Turning down the volume of the TV can severely hinder your enjoyment of the program. A solution to this problem would be to use an FM transmitter to broadcast the TV’s audio to an FM radio that could be placed directly next to the TV viewer. In this way the person watching TV can clearly hear the audio and the overall volume of the room is still low. You could even go as far as to purchase a wireless FM headset which would eliminate all sound in the room.
2. Listening to music while doing household chores, such as laundry, can make these often mundane activities go by much faster. When doing chores though you may need to move around, possibly going upstairs and downstairs. If all you have is a simple speaker system you will have to crank up the volume in order to hear it throughout the entire house. With an FM transmitter you can easily broadcast your audio throughout the entire house to a few FM radios. Now you can listen to the same music no matter what room you are in, without disturbing your neighbors.
3. Whether you’re out by the pool, having a barbeque in the backyard or on a camping trip it’s easy to set-up a mobile party with an FM transmitter. Everyone is able to listen to the same music without having to blast the audio from a centralized speaker. It’s great to have everyone spread out in different areas but still feel a part of the same party. This works great with any MP3 player, smartphone, iPod, CD player, computer or TV.
The advantages in quality of a wired MP3 FM modulator only apply when you consider inferior, low cost FM transmitters. There’s no debating that cheap FM transmitters can only produce average to low quality audio. This is because they are only able to transmit clear signals for a few feet. Quality transmitters can easily broadcast well over a hundred feet, making the transmitted audio clear and static free.
The fact that a wired MP3 FM modulator is not a portable device means that it doesn’t have any of the versatility of an FM transmitter. With a quality FM transmitter it’s possible to have the same audio quality in the car as an FM modulator, while being able to use it in tons of other locations. Therefore, it doesn’t make any sense to limit yourself — with control over your music — in only one vehicle with a wired MP3 FM modulator.
