Creating a budget-friendly website is not an impossible task. In fact, I am currently managing a website that cost me a mere £8.00. So, if you think you can't afford to create a website, think again. All you need is a bit of spare change.
When it comes to registering a domain name, it's crucial to shop around for the best prices. I used 123-reg.co.uk, a UK-based registrar, which I found to be quite helpful. If you're new to the world of domain names, I recommend doing some research to avoid any potential confusion.
Remember, your domain name should be catchy and memorable. Once you've chosen the perfect name, register it. It may take up to 24 hours for the domain to be registered, but you can use this time to find a web host.
Unless you have a high-speed computer and a constant internet connection, you'll need a web host. This service will store your files on a large server. Finding a free web host shouldn't be too difficult, but be aware that many of them include their own pop-up or built-in advertisements, which can disrupt the appearance of your website.
The best free host I've found so far is portland.co.uk. They offer a subdomain name (mypage.portland.co.uk) and no advertisements. If you've purchased a domain name, they will host it for free without any advertisements or transfer fees. Despite some technical issues I've experienced with Portland, I believe they are improving their service and I highly recommend them.
When you sign up with a web host, you'll be given a method to upload your files. This could be web-based, FTP, etc. While all these methods are effective, I personally prefer FTP and recommend it for advanced users. Web-based upload is usually straightforward, but FTP is convenient when you don't want to open your web browser and prefer to connect directly to the FTP server with FTP software (I recommend CuteFTP).
There are a few things that have helped me create an extremely affordable website. One is my passion for design and the thrill of having people from all over the world visit my website. The other helpful resources are listed below:
