You will need to look at the kinds of food you eat and attempt to make major changes to your overall diet. You will clearly need to remove a lot of your regular foods all together. Processed foods are usually high in calories and almost all fizzy drinks have enormous amounts of sweeteners and need to be avoided altogether.
You ought to choose foods that will help you to lose weight. It is however quite straightforward.  Certain foods such as spinach, celery, cauliflower and cabbage contain relatively few calories. When you eat any type of food the actual process of eating burns up calories. When you eat certain categories of food the actual number of calories burned up when you eat exceeds the number of calories contained within the food itself. Hence the term negative calorie.
To give an example of this if you were to eat a stick of celery with a calorie content of 50 calories but the action of chewing and digesting that piece of celery burns up 75 calories you have in fact burned up 25 calories.
As you will notice many of the foods mentioned appear in more than one category which makes them excellent choices for inclusion into your diet.
If you think carefully about the foods you eat it is possible to eat well when you are getting back into shape and not feel hungry as a result. Picking the right kinds of food which allow you to have regular sized portions that are low on calories is a far better option than just trying to follow a strict diet.
