Children wait for Santa Claus to come and throw away the gift for them. Do you all know what is Christmas?  The actual significance of this holiday is celebrated the birthday of Jesus Christ. This was a day when the “Son of God” took a birth on earth from heaven to save the world from sin. The moment he was delivered, angels announced his nativity to the shepherds in the fields and he was visited by three Magis (three wise men from the East), who welcomed him by offering gifts. The journey of this holy son was indeed very painful. He was very badly threaten by his opponents and tortured a lot but he never gave up, undoubtly he saved his followers but on the cost of his life. He was hanged on the Cross. Thus, this festival gives a message to the entire humanity to lead a noble life of prayer, love and sacrifice. Cross is the holy symbol and given a prime importance.   In almost all over the world, Christmas is the biggest event of the year and for members of the Christian religion it is an important day on the religious calendar. It falls on the 25th December every year and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by our Christian society; it is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. As it is a cultural celebration, it is a peculiar mix – part myth, part magic and part religion. This holiday lasts for twelve days, from 25th December to 6th January. These holidays are regarded as the fiesta of peace and goodwill, when families are reunited, houses are gaily decorated and gifts are exchanged. The Churches are decorated with electric bulbs and candles.  Almost all the Christians gather in the church to pray to God. They pray that they may lead a happy life in the coming year with the blessings of Lord. Special masses are held in the Church for this occasion. All the family members decorate Christmas tree with toys, decorative lights, balloons and candles. Children look very happy. They believe that Santa Claus will come in his sleigh pulled by reindeers and will give toys and gifts to them. Santa Claus, thus, becomes the special attraction for the children. From young ones to elders and adults all exchange the gifts with their friends and relatives. They hold parties and dinners on the occasion of this auspicious day. They sing Christmas songs and carols. They wish 'Merry Christmas' to each other and enjoy tasty cakes. Cakes, Puddings and beverages are the speciality of this occasion. “According to my sense Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind to cherish peace and goodwill. To ample with mercy is to have the real spirit of this holiday”.
