Mental Mediums

Mediums are those people who have the special skill of being able to communicate with spirits- people who are no longer alive on the physical plane but can be felt on the spiritual one. There are references to mediums since the ancient times and they have been people who have not been easily accepted by society with its rigid and set norms. Today, however, mediums are seen as ordinary people who have the extraordinary gift of being able to communicate with those spirits who exist only as energy that has no form.

Mediumship or the skill of communication with spirits is something that requires a great deal of concentration and an ability to focus strongly without getting emotionally involved in the information gathered during the communication. Amongst the many types of psychics that we know of, mediums are held in great regard as they are people who have honed their psychic consciousness to a fine art and are able to use it effectively to help people who come seeking their help. They are people who have a deep understanding of the fact that spirits might not have their corporeal bodies but can communicate very effectively through the mediums.

Mediums are sought out primarily by people who have lost a loved one suddenly and are so bereft that they need to know if all is right with the departed soul after its body ceased to exist. They need confirmation that their loved ones are indeed happy so that they can proceed with the rest of their lives. There have also been references of mediums being sought by the roaming spirits so that they can convey to their family and friends that they have moved on or that there was something mysterious with their demise and that they want their families to know about it. Given the wide range of possible scenarios that mediums have to seek information their skills too need to be adaptive and encompass all the aspects of mediumship.

Amongst the most important of skills that a medium requires is the skill of clairvoyance. This is the ability of a psychic’s mind which enables it to travel over space and time to seek the information that the sitter wants. Clairvoyance is one of the most famous of skills displayed by psychics and it enables seeing the spirit and communicating with it directly. Clairaudience is the ability to hear the spirits while clairsentience is the ability to feel the spirit. All these three are necessary to certain extents and a proficient medium will be one who possesses these skills to a high degree. While it is true that all mediums are psychics it must be remembered that only the highly skilled psychics can become effective mediums. This is one psychic skill that demands the maximum both in terms of the physical and the mental effort.
