A mentor can be the difference between success, failure, and just standing still. It is especially true for people who are newbies in their new business. It is critical to success.
Buildling your GRN business can be thrilling experience. Most people learn how to think and operate differently. For many people it creates amazing opportunities they never thought possible.
Many of the people who succeed – really succeed – in businesses like Global Resort Networks (GRN) start with a mentor. Let’s be honest, starting any new business can be tough. It’s easier if there is someone to help. It’s even better if that person has the tools to make you a winner just like they are.
Your mentor could be anybody connected with the business or who knows something about it. Ideally, this should be the person who signed you up, your sponsor. But not all sponsors “click” with their affiliates. Some people get mentored by others at the same level as themselves. Others are mentored by their sponsor’s sponsor. There have even been cases where one person mentors everyone they contact, or contacts them.
The mentor is a person who should help you on three main things: getting started, learning what you need to do, supporting you going forward.
In getting started, this usually “do this” and “do that”. Most mentors try to build up your business one piece at time. Trying to do it all at once usually fails. For some people the business can be scary, so a mentor can help them through the dark areas. Most importantly, people take their time doing things. Sometimes, they sign up and do nothing. More than anything, the mentor kicks them in the butt and gets things rolling.
Learning what you need to know is critical. It is part of getting started, but is more than that. Learning “why” at the same time as “how” makes you better at the business. Your mentor will also walk you through different ways of doing the same thing. This helps you learn, and helps build your business. And your mentor is there to provide answers to questions you might have. He or she is a tremendous resource.
Lastly, the mentor is there for support. It might be help if you have a problem, or something isn’t working. It might be information on new ways of doing a part of the business. One major support from a mentor may be gentle “reminders” – emails or phone calls checking up on how things are going. That can be powerful when you feel things could be going better. A brief contact with a good mentor could make things better right away.
If you are involved in a GRN business or may be considering it, look for a decent mentor. Good mentors create success for their people – usually by showing their people how to be successful. Never discount the power of a mentor in your GRN business or any part of your life.
