Low voltage LED lights are now widely used for residential lighting due to its high efficiency and reliability. To control and dim low voltage LEDs, the most popular technology is PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) thanks to its smooth switching and dimming without flickering.
LED dimmer module with PWM output can be available with different PWM frequencies. It sends the PWM signal to the connected LED light. Generally, the higher the frequency is, the more smooth the switching and dimming will be. Different frequencies are suitable for different applications.
For instance, the low frequency is enough for home lighting and enables stable and smooth switch and dimming control, and low frequency will not cause the buzzing noise of the power supply. There are many types of control signal available in the market, and the most popular ones are RF/WiFi wireless, DMX, DALI and 0/1-10V. And all these signals will be decoded by the dimmer and converted to PWM signal to control the connected LEDs. To receive the corresponding signal, the dimmer shall be designed in accordance with corresponding control protocol of RF, DMX, DALI and 0/1-10V.
The control signals can be available in different styles, such as traditional push button switch, rotary switch and the latest wireless remote control, full touch panel control and so on.
