They do not accept any loss or damage to the items client pack on their own but in case of obvious loss or damage to the carton or box will be recovered by the removal company.
Items Packed by Owners (PBO)
There are some items which need to be packed by owners. Removal companies do contract with the client to pack all of their belongings, except the personal clothing items.
Packing your clothing
You are required to pack all clothing items on your own. Port robes, which carry clothes on hangers only, are available for door-to-door moves and short-term storage. Pack port robes carefully if they will be overloaded they can collapse during transition. Each port robe will hold approximately 20 hanging items. Clothes not need to be hanged on hangers in fact they must be packed in cartons or suitcases. Keep a record of what you pack where. If your goods will be placed in storage for a period greater than five weeks following uplift, Port robes should not be used. All clothing should be packed in suitcases or cartons. Clearly mark cartons or boxes you have packed as PBO and list the room with a brief description of items on the carton for example, bedroom 3 (children’s clothing). Make a record on your copy of your inventory so it will be helpful for you and removal companies.
Items Legal to Move
In addition to normal household items, the following can be moved or stored:
· Sealed food items. For unopened bottled wines and liquors, the manufacturer’s seal must be intact. We accept responsibility for loss or damage, but not deterioration, seepage or explosion, spillage.
· Portable and removable outdoor items such as swing sets, shelving in your garden shed, large outdoor toys, trampolines, tool sheds and lawn lockers if they have been cleaned, dismantled and packed securely by you (PBO) and are later reassembled by you.
· Small boats, kayaks, canoes and other small watercraft (no longer than 5.5 meters and not at all heavier than 50kg.
· Motor bikes, mini bikes and trail bikes are legal and safe to move if you pack them in special crates and drain petrol and oil out of it.
· BBQ bottles must be certified empty by a licensed provider so it will be safe to move.
· Scuba tanks needs to be prepared to manufacturer’s specifications.
· Hobby vehicle parts that are clean, do not present a risk of injury to persons or property may be removed. Parts must be listed in the Household Removal inventory, or on the vehicle condition report. Toll Transitions will in consultation with owner determine the best method for removal of parts.
