Who Should Attend IRS Audit
This depends on the type of audit, but generally we try to keep our clientsaway from the auditors.
In many instances, the auditor will need to tour the business being audited and ask questions of the owner. When this is the case we try to keep it simple and if at all possible, short. The main concept here is that yourlegally designated representative should be the main contact for the auditor.
When clients get in front of an auditor, they generally can’t help being nervous. They will sometimes stutter and stammer, saying things that are just wrong because they are nervous. This might cause an auditor who is trained to pick up on these things, to be even more aggressive than usual.
