Mobile Phone Plans Trends

Cell phone plans have changed dramatically over the last 37 years that they have been in existence. When they first became popular in 1973, many people used prepaid cell phones so that they would not be tied to a contract. It is speculated that this was because cell phones were not expected to be successful. But the idea of being accessible at any time is very attractive to most people.

Do you use your phone to only talk on or do you use it for many other things a well? Many people are now using their cell phones for much more than simply talking. You can now add many features onto your cell phone plan such as: text messaging, picture messaging, video messaging, mobile web access, the ability to download music and games off of the internet onto your phone, and having music play when someone calls your phone instead of the traditional ringing. Though these things will change the price of your cell phone plan, some people believe that they cannot live without these added features.

There is still a large debate about whether prepaid cell phone plans are better than a postpaid plan, which requires a contract. Prepaid cell phone plans are best for people that do not want to have a contract and be locked into one plan for an extended period of time or for those that don't often use many minutes. The majority of people now sign a contract and have the peace of mind of being able to be reached at any time.
