The screen is manufactured from scratch-resistant materials protecting it from everyday wear and tear, and features an accelerometer sensor which offers an auto-rotate function, which means the screen can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

The GD880 Mini relies on a number of methods to stay connected to both cellular networks and the internet.  Class 10 versions of both GPRS and edge provide the initial means of connecting to cellular networks in areas with little or no 3G coverage. In areas where 3G coverage is present, a HSDPA connection provides the internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (alongside HSUPA at 2 megabytes per second). Wi-Fi offers a faster internet connection in certain locations, wherever a wireless internet router is located. The signals given off by the router are utilised by the handset, providing a faster connection and therefore an enhanced browsing experience.  Bluetooth and micro USB connections provide the means to connect to other compatible hardware devices such as other mobile phones and computers.

The LG GD880 Mini comes equipped with a built in digital camera boasting 5 mega pixels.  This allows still images of high quality taken no matter the location.  A selection of image enhancing features are included as part of the cameras software package.  These include autofocus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, and image stabilization. Of course, the camera can also shoot video, and this is in VGA quality at a rate of 30 frames per second, offering an alternative method of image capture.

A wide selection of features is included in the LG GD880 Mini’s spec list, adding to its already impressive everyday functionality. A versatile media player is supplied to keep users entertained for hours on end, and this supports most of the common formats of both music and video files. Add to this a stereo Fm radio player and a selection of pre-installed games, and you have a great mobile entertainment device. Social networking integration offers live updates so users can share their thoughts with friends and family instantly. Productivity features such as a document viewer and voice memo recorder will appeal to business users.

The dimensions of the handset are 102x47.6x10.6mm and it weighs in at a mere 99 grams. This makes it a pocket friendly handset, and its light weight means it is a pleasure to hold and use on the go. The styling of the LG GD880 Mini could be described as futuristic, thanks to its large touch screen and angular lines finished in silver.

LG have a reputation for producing quality touch screen handsets, and the GD880 Mini is certainly no exception, and could easily be described as one of the manufacturer’s most attractive handsets to date.
