One of the most advanced handsets currently available, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 has recently been subject to a UK TV Advertising campaign. It has proved popular since its release in March 2010 thanks to an enviable spec list and sophisticated styling.

Given the large 4 inch touch screen, the XPERIA X10 is obviously not the smallest handset in the world.  It does remain pocket friendly however, given its slimline profile of 13 mm coupled with its light weight of 135 g which also makes it a comfortable phone to hold and use.

 

A number of different connectivity features are employed by the XPERIA X10 to provide it with optimum connectivity to the Internet and cellular networks based upon location and network coverage.  Both EDGE & GPRS are provided, boasting class 10 versions.  This provides it with a connection to cellular networks in all but the most isolated of areas.  In areas covered by 3G, access to the Internet is provided at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second via an HSDPA connection (along with an HSUPA connection at 2 MB per second).  Whenever a signal is detected from a local wireless Internet router, Wi-Fi Technology kicks in providing users with a faster Internet connection and therefore enhanced browsing experience.  In order to connect the XPERIA X10 to other hardware devices, both Bluetooth and USB connections are provided.

 

An impressive list of additional features and applications provides for the exciting levels of versatility and appeals to a range of different mobile phone users.  Social networkers are catered for thanks to Facebook and twitter integration which allows them to share their thoughts with friends and family in a matter of seconds.  The versatile internal media player boasts the ability to accommodate many different formats of music and video files, whilst a number of pre-installed games and to the entertainment options.

 

The internal phonebook within the XPERIA X10 can accommodate a seemingly endless number of entries and fields and also comes equipped with the popular Photocall function.  This allows a photo to be assigned to a particular contact within the phonebook, and this is in turn displayed on screen whenever that person calls.  For storage of data such as media files, 1 GB of internal storage is provided.  A micro SD slot comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card; however this can be increased to up to 16 GB by installing a larger memory card.

 

As mentioned, the XPERIA X10 boasts a large 4 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen.  The pixel layout of 480x 854 pixels offers the ability to display up to 65K colours, resulting in effective playback of photos and video files.

 

With such impressive technology and design, it is hard to find faults with the Sony Ericsson the XPERIA X10.  It ticks all the boxes in terms of everyday functionality and versatility, and appeals to a wide range of different users.
