Osmania University is an age-old institution which came into existence in the year 1918. As per the records of the government, it is the seventh oldest institution in India. The University offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in various disciplines through the niche colleges. 1) University College of Arts and Social Sciences:
The University College of Arts and Social Sciences was established in the year 1919 when the Osmania University was setup. The college was set up with the aim of imparting quality education in the field of Arts and Social Sciences. There are departments of the subjects that are categorized under two Faculties. One Faculty is the Faculty of Arts under which the Department of Classical languages and the department of modern languages are categorised. The second Faculty is the Faculty of Social Sciences of which there are eight departments of subjects Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Library and Information Science, History, Psychology, Sociology and Physical Education.
2) University College of Engineering:
The University College of Engineering was established in the year 1929. It is the biggest and the oldest engineering college among all the engineering colleges in the state of Telangana. The college offers full-time six undergraduate and 24 postgraduate courses and also offer Doctoral courses. The undergraduate courses offered by the College are through the departments. The departments are as follows-
3) University College of Technology:
The University College of Technology is one of the oldest institutions that was established in the year 1969 to offer Chemical Technology and Chemical Engineering education in India. The college offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses that contribute significantly in the field of science, technology and innovation. The College offers three undergraduate courses that are B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, B.Tech in Food Technology and B.Tech in Textile Technology. The duration of the courses is about four years. The students have to clear the entrance examination to get the admission in the undergraduate courses of the University College of Technology.
