Every student who has been to a boarding school will relate to it. The initial days are hard,Tips to survive the initial days of a Boarding School Articles but once you are accustomed to it, they eventually becomes the best days of your life.

I was admitted to a Noida international school, while my father decided to send me to a renowned boarding. It has been a tradition in my family, and my entire stay in the boarding is till date, one of my fondest memories. According to me, hostel life is essential to everyone. A bit of an experience of staying all by yourself has a lot of positive effects on your personality. Check how to survive the initial hard days of a boarding:

Do not alienate yourself
It is awkward to communicate with new people, but do not stay aloof as these are the people with whom you have to stay! No matter how weird it seems, talk to people around you, ask someone to show you around, strike a conversation with your room mate. Eat together in the dining hall and attend sports classes. This will help you shed all inhibitions and mix up with the environment there.

Do not compare with your home
This would make you disturbingly home sick, especially if it is the first month of your stay. That period is a vulnerable time and if you compare the schools with the comfort of your home you will feel ridiculous. See the positive side, you are going to stay with friends, make lots of new friends, learn a lot of new activities, and get to pursue your hobby! Accept the fact that this place is going to make a fine disciplined person out of you and start living every moment!

Tuck in a lot of snacks
Carry quite an amount of snacks from your home and believe you me, they act as comfort foods if you are depressed or feeling lonely. You can munch away your favorite tit-bits and forget about home sickness for a while.

Also, do keep writing letters to your parents. Emails are fine, but still, letters do wonders. Yu will feel great after writing a letter than typing it out. All the best, have a great life at a boarding school!
