NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Isabelita in Spatial Fluidity. The exhibition opens April 1, 2017, and runs through April 21, 2017, with an opening reception on Thursday, April 6, from 6-8 pm.
Isabelita, an artist renowned for her serene and balanced abstract paintings, will be showcasing her work at Chelsea’s Agora Gallery in the exhibition titled "Spatial Fluidity." The exhibition will be open from April 1 to April 21, 2017, with a special reception on April 6 from 6-8 pm.
Isabelita's art diverges from the often confrontational nature of modern art, opting instead for a harmonious and balanced aesthetic. She describes her unique style as "cosmogony," inspired by her first piece, which she likened to "an explosion of music coming out of my heart." Her work, while abstract, symbolizes the genesis of life and the origin of the cosmos, akin to the macro view of a supernova where elements break apart and come together simultaneously.
Isabelita's innovative use of natural textures and pigments—such as sand, dirt, leaves, moss, tea, and seeds—allows her colors to interact as if they were living organisms. This technique results in artwork that transcends mere beauty, appearing almost hypnotic and sublime.
Born in Seville, Isabelita honed her craft at Christie’s of London. She currently resides and works in Madrid, continuing to push the boundaries of abstract art.
The exhibition "Spatial Fluidity" will feature a diverse group of artists, including:
"Spatial Fluidity" is a collective exhibition that brings together some of the most innovative artists working outside the traditional picture plane. This exhibition celebrates three-dimensionality in all its forms and questions how art should exist in the world. Is it purely visual? Does it enter the viewer's space? Is it static, or does it change as the viewer moves?
The exhibition features a wide range of mixed-media work, from subtly textured pieces to canvases that protrude and recede into "real" space. The artworks include collages that intermingle newspaper clippings and photographs, some coated in a reflective glaze, and single-media paintings that emphasize the physical aspects of their materials, such as the plastic quality of acrylic. Much of the art is abstract, allowing viewers to focus on broader visual sensations rather than a representational narrative.
Isabelita's work, with its unique blend of natural textures and cosmic themes, offers a fresh perspective in the ever-evolving world of contemporary art. Her participation in "Spatial Fluidity" at Agora Gallery is a testament to her innovative approach and the timeless appeal of her art.
