NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will showcase the original work of New Zealand artist Clare Page in the exhibition "Landscapes of the Mind." The event will run from December 3, 2016, to December 23, 2016, with an opening reception on Thursday, December 8, from 6-8 PM.
Several years ago, Clare Page received a gift that would change her life—a camera. This present marked a new beginning, a reintroduction to the world through the lens. Now, under the mentorship of two of Australia's leading nature photographers, Clare captures the natural world in all its splendor. Utilizing a 50-megapixel camera, she focuses on the breathtaking landscapes of the Australian wilderness and New Zealand's South Island.
Clare's work is a testament to her ability to adapt to varying light conditions, often manipulating shutter speed and applying filters to achieve the perfect shot. Her photography is not just about capturing a scene but about conveying the essence of the natural world.
During the winter months, Clare takes to the country roads for two main reasons: the absence of reptiles and the presence of fog. She finds beauty in the fog's inconsistency and the way sunlight pierces through it. Often, she sits in her car, eating breakfast by lantern light, watching the fog ebb and flow. For Clare, the natural world is not just a subject but a teacher. "Life is an inspirational teacher," she says. "When I experience seasons of opposition, I thrive."
Clare is a provisional member of both the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography. She currently resides and works in South Island, New Zealand.
