Three music cds for toddlers that make the perfect Christmas present.
Overview
Maya and Miguel made its first appearance on PBS Kids GO! in the fall of 2004 and has quickly grown to become a favorite among many American households. Maya and Miguel is a children’s cartoon geared towards providing the Latin community with a wholesome children’s show that embraces their heritage while promoting cultural differences in America. The show often uses both the Hispanic and the English language with a strong emphasis on helping Latin Americans understand that they can keep their heritage and still be a part of America.
Review
There aren’t any new, life changing songs on any of these music CDs. In fact, most of the songs were originally recorded by various artists during the 50’s and have been re-recorded various times throughout the years. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I actually enjoyed their song choices: the vocals of the children singing, and the smoothness of the music itself, but…
Personally, I would have liked to have seen more originality in the song choices. I would’ve liked to have heard songs that matched the energy, vibrancy, and heart of the Maya and Miguel show.
That being said, all the songs are sung by the characters of the Maya and Miguel show so small children will have a blast singing and dancing with their favorite cartoon characters. And the lyrics offer the perfect opportunity for Spanish speaking children to learn the English language.
