It is easier to prevent fine lines and wrinkles than it is to get rid of them later.
Everybody's going to age. To some extent,
lines and wrinkles are inevitable. However, frequently it happens too soon. To be aware of how to avoid premature wrinkles, please note that wrinkles come in two basic varieties: Some wrinkles are permanent, while some wrinkles aren't. To rid the face of the permanent kind requires some cosmetic surgery. The other types, which are usually referred to as 'pseudowrinkles', are relatively simple to banish.
Pseudowrinkles
Pseudowrinkles are really nothing more than the effect of dehydration on the skin. But they often look similar to the permanent lines and wrinkles of aging and can be just as concerning. They result from very ordinary causes, including:
The Sun. As you are tanning, the sun's rays are evaporating the moisture from your skin and dehydrating it. The natural dehydrating effect is complicated further by the swimming that sometimes comes with lying in the sun. To keep pseudowrinkles from forming, consider these safety measures. First, make use of a sunscreen lotion whenever you go outdoors. Then, after you come indoors, take a cool bath. Incorporate a few tablespoons of olive oil to the water and let it sit for five to ten minutes before you climb in. When you are getting out, pat yourself dry and apply a moisturizer.
Prescription Drugs. Some medications work as diuretics, causing people to use the bathroom often. This could cause minor dehydration--just enough to cause several wrinkles on the hands and face. This can be easily alleviated by drinking a glass of water and applying a moisturizer or moisturizing lotion.
The Winter Months. Heating the house during the winter sucks the moisture right out of the air, drying out the skin. Going outside into the harsh winter winds can further dehydrate your skin, resulting in additional pseudowrinkles. Thankfully, this can be easily solved by ordering an air humidifier or leaving water throughout the house to incorporate moisture to the air. It's also advisable to use an oil-based moisturizer to trap moisture after bathing.
Permanent Wrinkles
Permanent wrinkles are simple to prevent but are much more difficult to eliminate. Some people can successfully minimize the appearance of these wrinkles using an anti-wrinkle cream but the ideal way to have youthful-looking skin is to prevent them from appearing to begin with. These wrinkles are caused by:
Sun Damage. While sun-induced dehydration can cause pseudowrinkles in the short-term, long term sun exposure can cause permanent wrinkles. The collective effect of too much exposure to the sun is destroyed elastin. Once the support tissue below your skin is damaged, it cannot be properly restored. This can be easily avoided by making use of sunscreen before heading outside for longer than a quick trip to the mailbox. If you're currently showing symptoms of sun damage, put on sunscreen lotion prior to heading outside to avoid further damage and moisturize your skin. The fine lines and wrinkles on your face may be permanent, but skin hydration can make them less visible.
Smoking. Research has shown that smokers have a higher occurrence of crow's-feet at the corners of the eyes. There are conflicting theories as to if they are caused by squinting your eyes against the smoke or from the smoke itself but everyone agrees that quitting smoking is the best remedy for these wrinkles. Quitting won't eliminate the fine lines that are already there but it will help prevent future ones from developing.
Age. Skin slowly deteriorates with age. Wrinkles are an unavoidable part of the decreased circulation, loss of water, and deterioration of elastic tissue that goes with aging. Sadly, it's impossible to avoid aging; the only thing you can do is make an effort to ease your skin into aging. As with sun exposure, it is possible to decrease the appearance of wrinkles using a wrinkle cream; however they will not disappear completely.
