Kidney dialysis is the best solution for the individuals, who are suffering from Edema or whose kidney is not functioning properly.  It is a life support treatment, where a special machine is used to filter excess fluid, harmful wastes and salt from blood. It does many of the important functions that are usually done by our Kidney in the body.

Why Dialysis?

It is known that our kidney plays an important role in our body. It helps in filtering excess fluid, waste and toxins from blood. It is also responsible for the production of blood cells and for healthy bones. If our kidney will stop working properly, the harmful substances will start to build up in our body and too much fluid will be collected. Further, our blood pressure may also be rose. As a result of this our body gets swelled that called edema. Therefore, it is necessary that your kidney must work properly and if it fails you need to have a substitute to take care all the functions of the kidney.
Kidney Dialysis is a life saving treatment for the people, who are facing a problem of kidney failure. In general there are two types of Kidney dialysis, described as under:

Hemodialysis

In this kind of dialysis, a dialyzer and dialysis machine is used to filter the blood in our body. In this procedure an artery is connected to a vein to create a large blood vessels area that is generally called a fistula. A soft plastic tube is used to join an artery and vein together in this treatment.  After that a thin plastic tube is inserted in a vein in the neck or in groin area of leg. This is generally a temporary treatment and it all depend on one’s condition whether he need a temporary access or permanent.

In hemodialysis treatment, a special filter is used inside the machine, due to which blood flows a little bit. This filter helps remove the wastes and extra fluids, but maintain the balance of minerals. It depends on your condition that how long a hemodialysis session you need to go through.

Peritoneal Dialysis

In Peritoneal dialysis treatment, the dialysis solution flows into the belly through a catheter. The wastes and extra fluids are pulled through this dialysis solution and these are removed from the body by draining the solution. The treatment may take five to six hour in filtering and draining the wastes.
