One of the most important factors in properly taking care of your skin is determining what type of skin you have. There are five basic types of skin and all of them have specific needs.

The five types of skin are: oily,How To Recognize If You Have Oily Or Combination Skin Type Articles combination, sensitive, dry and sun damaged. The way to tell what type of skin you have is by how much oil the skin produces. In this article we will discuss how to tell if you have oily or combination skin.

One way to tell what type of skin you have is by performing a simple test. After washing your face and patting it dry take a few pieces of rice paper or lens cleaning tissue paper and press it onto different parts of your face. If the paper sticks to your skin or has oily stains on it after the paper is removed you have oily skin. If the skin is only oily in the t-zone, which is the forehead, nose and chin than you have combination skin.

One of the biggest difference between oily skin and combination skin is where the skin is actually oily. Skin that is oily all over will have problems everywhere, and skin that is combination will have an excess of oil build-up only in the t-zone.

Another way to tell the difference between oily and combination skin is by the size of the pores. Oily skin typically has enlarged pores and is very prone to developing acne and blemishes. Combination skin will have medium pores and more of a smooth even texture. People who have combination skin will have the added difficulty of dealing with dry skin as well as oily skin. Combination skin types will often have dry areas on their cheeks.

Once you know what type of skin you have it will be easier to get the right skin care products to make your skin as beautiful as it can be.
