Orthodontist – Straightening Out Your Problem Smile
When you fight with your smile it’s not something your proud of. By visiting an orthodontist you can get a smile to be proud of.
Going to your dentist is a great way to make sure your mouth is healthy. When you have a crooked smile though there isn’t much that a regular dentist can do for you however. He can make some recommendations on what you can do to take care of the problem but the best thing for you is to see a specialist. The best place for you to go is to see an orthodontist.
An orthodontist is a specialist dealing with many different factors of your teeth and gums. The most common reason for you to see this specialist is to have your teeth straightened. Many of us fight with the crooked tooth problem every day. For some of us it is just the way that they come in. For others it is because their mouths are too small to accommodate all the teeth that come into their mouths. For these people simply using braces may not help and other things may have to be done.
Orthodontists don’t just use braces to straighten your teeth. While these are the most common and popular way to get a straight smile it’s not the only one available. Because of the many problems that some people have had with the wires being in their mouths some doctors are now using a series of clear trays to push the teeth into place. These trays are more commonly known as invisalign trays. The series of trays are traded out over the course of the treatment allowing the patient a somewhat painless alternative to traditional braces.
Orthodontists don’t just straighten teeth. Their job is to make your smile look proper. Sometimes it isn’t the fact that your teeth aren’t straight. Sometimes it’s the way that your bite is. An over bite or an open bite may be the problems that you face. Often times these have to be solved with metal. Braces can often take care of an open bite,
or a bite in which the teeth don’t close together.
The tightening of the wires will help your mouth learn to close properly. For the over bite problem braces may work as well. In extreme cases of both types of problems, however, the jaw may have to be broken and your doctor may have to wire the mouth shut until the jaw is healed in the newly reset fashion.
Orthodontists are there to make your teeth look like they are supposed to. For many of us making the smile look like it should means simply straightening them out for us. This can be accomplished with invisalign trays or braces. For others that can mean adjusting the way their mouth closes which can be accomplished with braces and in extreme cases resetting the jaw into a new position.
