I am asked this question all the time in my eBay classes. If you want make real money on eBay, you need to treat it like a business.
If you want to sell on eBay as a hobby, you cannot expect the same results. These three tips are important for ANY business.
1. Time is money! Be sure that you understand that you should get paid for everything you do. And it is up to YOU to get paid. Set quotas and goals for yourself on a daily and weekly basis. Have a plan so that you maximize your productive time and minimize time wasting activities. If you don’t have a plan, then take a class, whether it is from me or someone else. If you begin an eBay business or any other business without a plan, you are wasting your time and money.
2. Think like a buyer! When you are selling you need to put yourself in the buyers place. Choose a title that someone would type in to search for that item. Write accurate descriptions that give all the details that a buyer might need in order to purchase your item. Above all, be accurate. Mention any scratches or wear so that the buyer has no surprises when they receive it!
3. Think BIG, act small! There are many ways to think of this. Have a big vision, but take care of the details on a daily basis. Move in baby steps, correct and continue all the time. Once you are successful, remember how you got there and duplicate that process. Don’t expand too fast. BIG results come from paying attention to the details!
In my years of teaching eBay classes, I have found that you will always learn something new along the way. I enjoy supporting students who continue to hound me for answers because they are growing!
