Numerous of us will use outdoor lights round our home as a way of providing lights next to the driveway for us to find our way at night or to supply extra security when we are sleeping or safely within the house. No matter what our reasoning might be you should make sure that you do what it needed to keep these well maintained.

It is not unusual for us to forget that these lights are there and when we finally do remember the build up of dirt and dust has caused the outside to tarnish and finally to break. They may have the ability to withstand almost any condition - but there is only so much they are able to handle. Cleaning them is simple and should be done once every two or three months.

First you will have to fill up a bucket with hot water and dish detergent. Ensure that you also have a rag or sponge with you. Turn the lights off and utilize a screwdriver or other tool to disconnect the globe or grill from the light fixture. Set these in the water and allow them to soak for a couple of minutes.

While these are soaking take the rag and use it to wash down the fixture on the wall. Scour off any dirt and grime that has accumulated without getting any water in the socket. If there is water in here when you turn them back on you could get shocked or you could break the whole thing.

Now you must wipe down the globes and grills to remove the build up of dirt. Use a clean towel to wipe down all the slices and outdoor light fixtures. If they still look a bit dingy you can apply a coat of wax or polish. Also utilize glass cleaner on the globes to keep them from becoming streaked with water.
