Quick And Easy Housecleaning Tips

Step 1 – Front Door
Step outside and open the front door as a visitor might. The view from your front door leading into the house will be the first impression someone will see from the outside. Try to remove all footware, backpacks and jackets from view. Perhaps even consider investing in a coat rack, which may solve all three, depending on the type. A nearby closet is also a wonderful idea. Once this is done, do your best to maintain it.
Step 2 – The Bathroom
Invest in a container of toilet cleaner and follow the directions. Use windex to tend to the mirror, vanity, tub and sink. Next, take a minute to scrub the toilet. Wipe the seat and bowl with the paper towels used to clean the sink. Use an additional paper towel to pick up any hair or dust in corners or at the base of the toilet. Throw away the bathroom trash. Keep clean towels available and wash those that have been used.
Step 3 – Living Room
Head to your bedroom and grab an empty laundry basket. Head to the living room and throw in everything that does not belong onto the basket. Send all dishes to the dishwasher. Distribute the contents of the laundry basket to their correct places. If you’re short on time, you can always hide it in your bedroom until later. Straighten any magazines and dust throughout the room, including any electronics and the table tops.
Step 4 – Routine
Now that you’ve got the basics down, it’s just a matter of keeping up on them. The idea is to take care of any items as soon as you are through using them are essential with having good house cleaning habits. Be sure to place all used dishes in the dishwasher and picking up any random items before you head to bed. You don’t have to sweep every night, but it’s a good practice to shoot for at least once a week. The same rule could apply to vacuuming. Once you’ve kept the routine going long enough, house cleaning will become second nature and you likely won’t even think much about dirty dishes or items of clothing in the living room.
