There are many websites and gift shops across America today that feature T-shirts that have a nerdy undertone, nerdy jokes, or nerdy characters. Many college students can be seen in these T-shirts that often feature comic book characters, mathematic formulas, or jokes that only nerds would get... but alas, Nerds need shirts, too!
Many student organizations on college campuses find clever ways to be funny, yet nerdy, with their T-shirts. For example, the Society of Women Engineers groups design shirts that feature the top ten reasons to date an engineer, including many sexual innuendos about females in engineering. Also, some honors sororities or fraternities have shirts that feature nerdy phrases that are hilarious. For example, one I recently saw said "The Fibonacci Series. It's as easy as 1, 1, 2, 3" and another said "Lawyers do it in their briefs." All of these very "punny" phrases often go unnoticed by those other than the nerds who develop them or understand the jokes.
These hilarious nerdy T-shirts often show up on sitcoms such as The Big Bang Theory or The Office. These shirts also exist because of some sitcoms and feature nerdy characters such as Dwight Schrute from The Office, and one of the many nerdy things that he says. Hilarious nerdy t-shirts have become common place among many weekenders in cities and towns, big and small.
It is an interesting study, that of nerds and their humor, and it is exciting to see that the T-shirt industry is finally embracing them and printing shirts for that unique clientele. After all, Nerds need shirts, too!
