It’s not often that huge medical firms voluntarily recall one of their key products but that’s exactly what happened when corporate giant Johnson&Johnson told the public about problems with its hip implant system.

Market analysts said the recall of the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System is a direct response to the numerous problems that patients have had with the product.  Particularly interesting is that Johnson&Johnson now has to inform the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and regulatory agencies from countries around the world about the negative issues.

By doing so,Hip Recall Facts and Information Articles these analysts say, this could open up factual data and statistical information about the extent and depth of complaints of walking problems, tissue swelling, metal intrusions into the blood stream and constant pain caused by this system. The natural consequence would be that this detailed information would be invaluable to victims in their lawyers seeking damages for their suffering.

There is the possibility that a huge pool of victims could be affected by this problem. Johnson&Johnson admitted in its own announcement of the recall that as many as 13 percent of the systems failed, an extraordinarily high figure that undoubtedly had much to do with the recall being “voluntary.”

Although the recall has been issued it would be interesting to know how many of the victims are actually aware that it has been made. Large corporations are aware that even when massive recalls like the hip implant system are made only a small proportion of consumers actually take advantage of them because they never become aware of the hip recall.
