The word "mysteries" is particularly powerful because people are naturally drawn to the idea of a magical formula behind the success of these high achievers. After all, these individuals didn't reach their lofty positions without some measure of success. People are eager to learn what strategies or tactics these successful individuals employed to reach their current status.
There are a select few individuals who, if left stranded and naked in the middle of the Sahara Desert, would emerge two weeks later driving a brand new Ferrari, adorned with a gold Rolex watch and an Armani suit, and boasting a downline of 1,000 people. In other words, these individuals possess a unique talent or gift that cannot be replicated. So, how does the average person emulate such success? Or better yet, how does the average person achieve success in the first place?
The truth might be hard to swallow. Successful individuals, often referred to as 'heavy hitters,' work the numbers. They employ a system to work these numbers. At some point, they have reached out to enough people to generate sufficient business volume to create their current income. They use a system to predict the results based on a specific number of contacts. In other words, they know that if they contact 100 people, a certain number will purchase their product or service, and a certain number will join their business.
Once they become heavy hitters, they leverage their reputation to generate additional income. They have vast centers of influence. If a heavy hitter decides to switch companies and pursue a new opportunity, they have enough influence to convince many in their organization to follow suit. Of course, those closest to them get the news before those further down in the organization.
It's interesting to note how many successful network marketers (heavy hitters) market generic business support and training materials. At some point, they will "pitch" their opportunity; "back-end" the opportunity, if you will. This makes one wonder where the real money lies.
In my opinion, it's not beneficial to join a business opportunity "under" a heavy hitter or use their secrets. The reason is, to borrow a phrase from the financial industry, past performance is no indication of future success. What worked for one person may not work for another due to differences in circumstances, individual skills, and the like.
In fact, joining a business opportunity under a heavy hitter may be detrimental to your financial health. For long-term residual income, a business must be based on the retailing or consumption of products or services. Consumers must want and use the products because of the value associated with the product, not because there is a business opportunity attached to it.
Another key to success and long-term residual income is to develop strong relationships with your business partners. Be selective about who you allow into your business. Ideally, they will be your business partners for a long time. Developing strong bonds protects you and your partners from the uncertainties of business life like changes in company policy, compensation, etc.
The real truth is: get rich slowly. Build relationships first. This is the real secret to long-term success.
