Imagine being able to create testimonials for your website that passionately endorse your product. You might be thinking, "Isn't that unethical or even illegal?" The answer is no, not if done correctly. This article will guide you on how to ethically write your own testimonials that genuinely reflect your customers' experiences and opinions.

The Art of Writing Your Own Testimonials

The idea of writing your own testimonials might conjure up images of a shady businessman fabricating praises for his product and attributing them to non-existent customers. However,Crafting Compelling Testimonials for Your Product Articles this is not what we're suggesting. While I have written some of my own testimonials, the names attached to them are real customers who agree with the sentiments expressed in the testimonial.

The Process Explained

Here's how it works. After a customer purchases my product and has had a chance to evaluate it, I send them a letter requesting a testimonial. This letter, however, is not your typical testimonial request. Instead, I provide a selection of testimonials, each reflecting a different perspective on my product.

For example, the first testimonial might express satisfaction with the financial gains made from using my product. The second might convey initial skepticism that was dispelled after experiencing the product's quality. A third might highlight the product's comprehensiveness and its ability to answer all their questions. I also include a few other testimonials addressing and alleviating potential concerns that might deter prospective customers from purchasing.

The customer then selects the testimonial that best aligns with their own thoughts and feelings about the product. I then ask for their permission to use their name alongside the chosen testimonial on my website.

Addressing Ethical Concerns

You might still be wondering, "Isn't this unethical?" I believe it isn't. If a customer doesn't agree with the sentiments expressed in the testimonials, they won't allow me to use their name. Writing my own testimonials simply provides a way for customers to express their feelings without the burden of writing.

Tips for Writing Your Own Testimonials

Here are a few tips to help you write your own testimonials:

  • Write your first five to seven testimonials and send them to one customer. Wait for their response. If they agree to associate their name with one of them, replace it with a new testimonial and send it to your next customer. Keep track of which ones you've used and replace them as you go.
  • Allow your customer to modify the testimonial. Let them change words or phrases, add or delete sentences, and truly make it their own.
  • Regularly update your testimonials. As you receive new unsolicited testimonials that are particularly powerful, replace the older ones.

This method is a potent way of securing testimonials for a new product. Almost half of the testimonials on my webpage were obtained this way. By following these steps, you can create a powerful tool that reassures potential customers and converts them into buyers.
