Stop the Crowd - Marketing Your Business at The Fair
The summertime is full of events. Street carnivals, fairs and festivals are found across the states in almost every town. Almost everyone who has been to a fair has been approached by someone promoting something.
The cost of setting up at fairs is usually determined by the footage of space used. The larger the space,
the more the cost, but promoting can be done within a table length or two, if properly thought out. Space will not accommodate a stockroom full of inventory, unless you are willing to pay top dollar for it. So, how can a enterprise promote inventory, without having any stock on hand?
The reason families go to fairs is for the kids. The attraction of the rides, food and games is entertainment for all, but the reason they go is because of the kids. This is where a small business really needs to focus to have the crowd stop at the organizationbooth. It doesn’t matter what venture you are trying to develop, but if your devices are able to be employed by the entire family, then this venue would be a hot spot.
So, how would a small business promote at a fair? With the focus based towards the kids, think of ideas that would make a child want to stop at the booth. Helium balloons with a businessemblem or name is good, but if one can master the art of making animal balloons, it’s even better. Guaranteed, when the family leaves that booth and another child sees that animal balloon, kids will be begging for one of their own, increasing the number of people to enhance to. An important tip is to have some balloons already made, especially before the evening crowd.
Now that the family has gathered at the booth, this is the opportunity for advertising and sales. Have fliers or booklets available with a brief description of the organizationand include in-house coupons. It doesn’t necessarily need to be book. It can be two pages, stapled in the middle to provide four total pages, describing the enterprise, location, coupons that are surrounded by, “save this coupon,” and list other important information along the lines of lay-aways offered, coupons every month until the holiday to keep gift item giving on a budget. The ideas are endless. Face painting, finger paints framed by your businessand bracelet making are great ideas too. The fact is, while someone is putting a smile on the child, one is putting a pamphlet in the hands of the parents.
