I Need New shoes

“I need some new shoes for our holiday”, “ok, but we’re going day after tomorrow”, “we’ll have to go shopping today”.

Today is a Sunday, which means that shops that sell new shoes are only open for a few hours, if at all. We’ve left it too late to order the new shoes from the internet as we couldn’t be sure they’ll arrive in time.

It’s an absolutely glorious day, blue sky, sun shining, puffs of white fluffy clouds a perfect day for lazing about the garden having the occasional cold beer and striking up the BBQ. We’d done all the gardening the day before so that we could relax today, not to go shopping for new shoes.

So off we went to two massive shopping malls thirty miles apart because when you are buying new shoes you can’t buy the first pair you come across. Buying new shoes, as I’m sure you are aware, is a science. First you have to know the type of shoes, and there are so many types, you have sandals, casual shoes, dress shoes, trainers, running shoes, wedges, boots the list is long especially for women’s shoes. In our case we were looking for sandals or to be more precise flip flop type sandals.

The next thing was that these new shoes, sandals, couldn’t be just any old sandal they had to be a specific make, that make was Birkenstock, well not all shops sell Birkenstock they sold Prada shoes, Gucci shoes, Faith shoes, Cosy Feet shoes, Petite Feet shoes but not many sold Birkenstock shoes. From shop to shop to shop we went because not only do you have to know the type of shoes you want and the brand of shoes you want you also need to find the right style that fits your feet.

We thought we’d gone to every shoe shop in the first mall so decided to go to the next mall, at least this one was outside, but we couldn’t find what we were looking for but one shop said have you tried the internet, they have all the shoes!! So off we went back to the first mall as we remembered we’d missed a shop out. As it turned out that shop didn’t have the shoes we were looking at but said that if we go up the escalator turn right there is a shoe shop five doors down that sell exactly what you’re looking for.

So off we toddled and sure enough they did, they sold the exact type and style we were looking for and in various colours so in the end we didn’t just buy one pair of new shoes we bought two.

The moral of the story is, plan ahead, if you know you need a pair of new shoes leave yourself some time, save some shoe leather, save the planet and shop online
