Among the priorities that made it to the top ten rankings, content marketing is the new entrant.

The priority mix of businesses for 2011 is indicative that things will get more exciting in the areas of search, content, email, advertising and social media. Further, with the way things are going for most businesses, providers of professional search engine optimization services will have their hands full in 2011. Social media marketing is expected to continue to receive a lot of attention next year and businesses will be allocating a sizable portion of their budget and commit their resources to enhance their visibility in social media. Experts estimate the value of business in social media to reach $1.2 billion in 2011. Still, PPC and search engine optimization is expected to receive the biggest slice of the business pie in 2011, which is expected to be about $20.7 billion.

An interesting development is the entry into the top ten rankings of content marketing. This is a strong indication of the importance of providing added value by going beyond the features and benefits of products and services.
