Chaos is part of the entrepreneurial life. There is no way of getting around it. Projects are being completed. People are trying to steal your time. And more ideas are flowing through your head than you can possibly put into effect. And to top it off, all of these events, and more, are happening DAILY!
As an entrepreneur, you have to learn to deal with chaos. Chaos at the office, as well as chaos at home (sometimes one in the same). So how do successful entrepreneurs deal with chaos?
They have an "organized chaos" mindset.
Let's take a look at the 3 characteristics successful entrepreneurs understand about "organized chaos" and how you can adopt this mindset to leap frog your competition, get more done in less time, and have more success than you ever thought possible!
1. Know Your Outcome
As an entrepreneur, you are going to have stacks of papers lying around. From client files you're working on to educational material you're constantly reviewing, reading, and re-reading.
It's important to note, these stacks of papers NEVER leave. Yes, they may go down (in volume). Yes, they will change in content. But NO, they will never disappear.
So, instead of focusing on the "mess" around you, focus on your outcomes. Focus on the priorities in your life and business that are going to bring you joy, happiness, and money.
Your priorities are important. Your priorities take precedence over "chaos". If you let chaos bog you down, you'll never be a super-achiever. Know your outcomes and forget about everything else!
2. Not Everything Will Get Done
Scary thought, I know. But if you're going to be a super-achiever, you have to realize not everything will get done.
Like I said before, as an entrepreneur, you have more ideas coming to you than you know what to do with; and you have projects what the wazoo. Not all these will get done.
Some you can delegate to an assistant. Some you can give to a partner to handle. And some you'll just have to get rid of. The important concept is, not everything will get done.
Don't worry about everything else that's not getting done. Focus on your outcomes and get done what needs done - your high paying, important projects!
3. Perfection is an Illusion
In a perfect world, you wouldn't have chaos. You wouldn't have a messy work area. But there's no such thing as perfection. It's an illusion, a fantasy, a dream. It's a unicorn.
In dealing with "organized chaos", you have to understand this: you are going to have chaos.
More papers will accumulate. More projects will materialize. More people will ask for help and your time. More educational material will find its way into you life (and on your desk).
More is coming. It's up to you to handle the chaos and make it right for you.
Being an entrepreneur is not easy. If it were, everyone would want to be one. But that's what makes it so exciting.
Adopt these mindset characteristics into your business life and deal with organized chaos. If you do, I promise you'll be leaps and bounds ahead of your competition. You'll be able to get more done in less time. And you'll be more successful than you ever thought possible!
Renew Your Office to Spring into Action
Spring begins this Friday (March 20th) and it's that time of year again - Spring Cleaning. Or as I like to call it Springing into Action. As an entrepreneur, you have a lot on your plate and even more on your desk. The beginning of Spring is the perfect time to organize your office, so you can spring into action this season. Here's how you can get organized and save time this Spring. The Secret to Grabbing Your Prospects Attention
I'm not going to beat around the bush...the secret to grabbing your prospects attention is the use of a headline. Most entrepreneurs, marketers, and advertisers miss this! They think their prospects are somehow going to gravitate toward their ad or marketing message by way of 'the force'. Pfui. You must have a headline to grab attention! There is no other way.Eliminating Business Stress
In business, a lot of stress comes from worry. Will THIS get done? Will THAT get done? What if I don't know? What if I don't have enough time? The list goes on and on. But one question that is rarely asked is: do I really have to worry about this or that?
