Time which dominates guides and rules your life in a way nothing else does, is something you don't really pay particular attention to. Only when you have a better understanding of time, will you make better use of it. As an investment time needs a good ROI (return on investment).
Time is the one unstoppable dictator that rules your life from the moment you are born to the moment you die,
yet it is something you give very little thought to and often have little understanding of. Time is an investment and you need to demand a good ROI (return on investment) from it.
The Measure or Time:
Time has two immediate measurements, the calendar and the clock. The calendar, based on the phases of the moon, measures periods that are longer than a day, while the clock measures less than a day. There is a third time measurement, known as geologic time, which measures the events that shaped life on earth.
The earliest form of a clock was a simple sundial, measuring local time, through the shadow cast by an upright cross bar. The first instrument able to measure the hours of dark was a water clock created by the Egyptians.
Time has been measured with sand-through-an-hourglass, the burning of candles, or incense sticks. There have been clocks driven by gravity, springs, electrical power, and pendulums. Atomic clocks are the most accurate clock of all, based on the spin property of caesium atoms.
World Time:
The world is divided up by time zones which are measured to be exactly one hour apart. A Global Positioning System synchronizes time-keeping systems across the world keeping you in touch with everyone else.
Enough Time:
Ancient cultures speak of before time began, while others speak of dream time and the wheel of time. If you have any idea of being a success, you need to know what you spend your time on. King Solomon wrote:
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven–
A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1–8
Personal Time:
Time is a precious commodity and an essential part of your everyday life, yet it means different things to different people. There is so much you can do with time.
Here are just a few ideas:
- Find time
- Waste time
- Use time
- Save time
- Kill time
It is your state of mind and well being that affects the way you view time. Yet, at the finish of the day, it is how you used the time you had. For, with all the 'time saving' devices man has invented, time is the one thing you never have enough of and once spent can never be recovered. All successful entrepreneurs demand a top ROI from their time.
