A brief overview of Adio footwear's brand history from their modest beginnings in the late 90's to now.
Adio footwear founded in 1998 by well respected professional skateboarder Chris Miller. Actually pronounced “Audio” or “Ad-e-o”, Adio footwear is considered a market leader in the skateboard footwear market, producing new and innovative shoes whilst also boasting a top notch team of professional skateboarders and snowboarders.
Two professional skateboarders that were the driving force behind Adio shoes' launch in the late nineties was legendary vert skateboarder Tony Hawk and well respected street skateboarder Jeremy Wray. Both were hi profile riders at the time and immediately pushed Adio shoes into the minds of the skateboarding world.
The full original team consisted of Tony Hawk, Jeremy Wray, Brian Sumner, Bam Margera, Ed Selego, Kris Markovich, Danny Montoya and Kenny Anderson who all featured in Adio's first skateboard video “One step beyond”.
The next step was somewhat of a lucky break for Adio shoes with the signing of skateboarder Bam Margera who subsequently starred in MTV's smash hit TV show Jackass (2000 - 2002). Jackass which was some what of an evolution from the old Big Brother videos of the late ninties became an international phenomenon. As a result of the massive world wide exposure Adio shoes became an unstoppable force. You couldn't move in the early thousands without seeing Johnny Knoxville or Bam whether it be on MTV or Hollywood motion pictures such as Men in black II starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (2002). This was a great move for Adio footwear as this coverage brought the brand onto the world stage and gave it the mass recognition to appeal to all walks of life.
As Jackass and follow up show Viva la Bam (2003) gradually ran their course things cooled for Adio shoes and they settled back into doing what they have always done, make quality skateboard shoes for skateboarders. The team now features some of the hottest new talent skateboarding has to offer and Adio continue to push the boundaries and continue to make shoes based on their core values of quality, durability and comfort.
