The two teams played against each other for the first time back in 1993. Pakistan was led by Waqar Younis while Andrew Flower captained Zimbabwe. The match was played in Karachi where the home captain opted to bat first and put on a score of 423. Zimbabwe, in reply, scored 289. The home team scored 131 runs quickly and declared the innings. Zimbabwe got bowled for a mere 134 in the final innings. Pakistan captain Waqar Younis led from the front and picked up 13 wickets in the match.
