Taylormade have been at the forefront of golf club technology for many years and continue to produce a variety of cutting edge golf clubs all aimed at golfers with varying handicaps. Today we're going to look at three sets of Taylormade golf irons,Improving My Game with Taylormade Articles each aimed at players with varying abilities. It's common for different ranges of golf clubs to be aimed at a specific handicap range, for example the Taylormade R11 Irons are aimed at a handicap range of 20-0 whereas their Forged MC irons are aimed at players with a handicap of 10-0.

What many amateur golfers assume is that they need to upgrade their golf equipment as their handicap improves, but this is a not necessarily the case. I was turned onto the Taylormade range by a very knowledgeable salesman in my local golf store who recommended the (then new) Burner 2.0. At the time my handicap was around 26 on a good day, and a little over 30 on a bad day an the Burner 2.0 being rated for golfers with a handicap range between 30 and zero, so for a player of my ability they seemed ideal.

Over the following months I spent a lot of time playing golf and in spite of the Taylormade Burner's being far superior to my former set of irons, they did take a little getting used to and the feel was vastly different. Once I’d grown accustomed to them I realised just how poor my old irons really were. In comparison they felt more like a croquet mallet than a golf club, but that's all behind me now and thanks to Taylormade, my game is improving on almost every outing. I bumped in to the guy who sold me my Burner's and proudly told him that my handicap had improved significantly, now being a mere 18 (on a good day). I expected him to congratulate me more than he did, instead he suggested I should consider moving up to the new R11 irons, and that he could 'do me a good deal'.

Seeing as he's the expert on all things Taylormade I decided I’d at least check the new R11 irons out, bearing in mind the fact that my game has improved significantly since I'd purchased the Burner 2.0 just over a year ago. I entered the shop and began perusing the aisles of golf equipment until my saunter led my to the golf clubs and the new Taylormade R11 Irons stood out like a sore thumb. Before long the salesman joined me and within ten minutes my credit card was out and the new R11 Irons were being bagged up for me. Hopefully I'll be playing pro within a year or two, at which point I'll tell the wife exactly how much I’ve been spending on golf equipment; until then, it's a closely guarded secret!
