Women contribution in the IT industry is surprisingly low compared to other professions. But surprisingly one country in the world has a different statistic than other countries of the same field.

I was reading a blog post on a famous social media website written about the Silicon Valley and Indian information technology industry. After reading the post,IT industry in Pakistan is not a boys club anymore Articles I searched for some facts on the internet and found out that in Silicon Valley and in the Indian IT industry, there is a very little percentage of women professionals. But when I compared the statistics with the current Pakistan IT industry, I am surprised to see that it has a far better percentage of female IT professionals currently working in the industry.

I always thought that women were more advanced in the technology industry in other countries than they are in Pakistan. But the statistics say otherwise. And when I look around in my office, I see lots of female developers, designers and other IT experts both experienced and fresh graduates. This becomes even more promising as the enrollment of female students in the field of IT has increased than previous years.

The main reason of increasing women IT experts is that the number of IT jobs in Pakistan is increasing day by day. And with the passage of time, companies are getting more educated in maintaining a male to female ratio among their employees. Despite what propaganda is being done against the status of women, I see more confident and mature women working on different IT jobs in Pakistan.

If you look at the Silicon Valley heads of firms, there will be very few women on the top of the organizational hierarchy. But when it comes to IT jobs in Pakistan, it is not that male dominated as there are many organizational heads and more are joining in from the junior level. The trend of women entrepreneurs in different industries is also increasing as more women are taking up home based businesses and utilizing their education for the benefit of their family and securing their future.

A similar scene is in the Indian IT industry where the contribution of women in technology field is low compared to men. But things are improving there as well. Both of these countries have the fastest growing IT industry. Every year more and more IT jobs in Pakistan are offered and firms open opportunities for male and female candidates. These IT jobs are usually for both fresh and experienced candidates and a lot of companies offering them keep a balance between the number of male and female employees.
