Advantages of One Wheeled Motorbikes

I had to do a double take the first time I heard about these miraculous vehicles from RYNO motors.  Why would anyone want a one wheeled motorbike?  Wouldn’t that require the rider to have amazing balancing skills?  And even though I’m an adrenaline junky,One Wheeled Motorbikes – The Advantages Articles I couldn’t imagine going 50 miles per hour on a single wheel as I do value my life!  And so I dug it a little deeper to see what these one wheeled motorcycles were all about.

Correcting my biggest concerns were the self balancing and max speed aspects.  There is a self balancing feature similar to a segway and a little research shows it takes a new rider about an hour to effectively train his/herself and feel comfortable.  My second concern was speed.  These are designed for short distance commuting and are intended to go 20-30 miles at a time at a max speed of 20 mpg.  So yes, that relaxed my safety worries about going 50 mph, but then why would anyone really need these?  There are many reasons.

Manueverability is huge.  Both on and off-road/inside and outside friendly, RYNO’s one wheeled motorbikes can be ridden out of your apartment, down the hall, down the elevator, through the hallway and out the door.  You can stop at your favorite food truck to pick up some coffee, and then literally roll right into your office.  Because of its small size and the fact that it only has one wheel allowing the rider to turn on a dime, the segway may soon become a thing of the past

So what about emissions?  How bad is this for the environment?  It’s electric.  Its zero pollutant, extremely quiet, 5-horse motor may be another reason for segway to worry.  A rider can travel up to 30 miles on one charge with a max speed of 20 mph.

Finally, there’s storage.  It’s pretty convenient you can drive right into a building with one of these and it takes up less space than a bike or a segway.  They are also intended to alleviate congested parking environments in some of the larger cities.  You should definitely check one of these out if you want to save some gas or space in your apartment/house, save on parking fees, help the environment, or just look a little more futuristic.  One wheeled motorbikes are scheduled to hit the market in January 2013.  More articles to come regarding how and where to get one.
