Crash Diets DO work. But, and a maybe but, there are serious consequences to such radical methods.
Seems unreal? The reality is that it is very possible to drop weight, and lose it fast.
There are an endlessamount of crash diets offering to help you do so. They can be extremely efficient and offer you the results you want to reach. But be aware that you will be losing mostly water, dehydrate your body, and you will put the weight back on again within weeks. There are other negative side effects, such as fatigue, cramps and muscle wastage.
Aside from the health hazards of such crash diets, one of the key problems lies in the fact that these methods are hard to maintain longterm. Ultimately you will transition back into your original routines, which were the source of your weight issues from the outset. In order to maintain long term weight loss (and better health), you must construct some modifications to your lifestyle that help to stimulate weight loss.
Simply put, you either 1) intake too much food, 2) don't get enough exercise, or 3) both.
Weight Gain/Loss Explained
The mechanics behind weight gain is quite straightforward. Calories are like money in your bank account. Putting in more than you spend and it goes up, putting in less than you spend and it goes down. Eating more calories than you burn off and your weight goes up, intaking less calories than you burn and your weight goes down. If you really love to eat (intaking calories), then you must balance it out by doing more more exercise (using up calories). If you really can't stand to exercise, then you will need to consume less calories.
What to do to Lose Weight
If you are like the average person, you probably love to eat, and you probably don’t like (or don't have time) to exercise much. Making alterations to maintain a healthier lifestyle does not require starving yourself or spending a fortune on a gym. Putting in place smart, less extreme changes can make losing weight a much easier target to pull off, and will also bring you many other health benefits.
So what are some examples of changes I can make?
You can start by clearing out a lot of the unhealthy food from your shelves. Cookies, chips, fizzy drinks, and candy are all tremendously high in calories and are also not good for you. You can exchange these with healthier options such as frozen yogurt, gelato, fresh fruits, and dark chocolate.
And now for exercise. You don’t need to sign up for a gym. Go for a jog. Begin with 20 minutes a day at a steady pace. Opt to take the stairs at work instead of the elevator.
