Miscarriages are quite common and almost 15% of the pregnant women experience this once. If the women want to go for pregnancy after one or recurrent miscarriages then it is better to know about the dos and don’ts after miscarriage so that the next pregnancy is having lesser risk. Miscarriage is generally common during the first trimester and it happens mainly due to problems with the fetus. The problem could be due to chromosomal problem such as genetic mutation,
receiving more or less number of chromosomes from the healthy parents etc. Improper implantation of the embryo on the uterus wall also causes miscarriage. Miscarriage not only happens due to the embryo but certain factors related to the mother also enhance the chances of miscarriage.Before mothers should know the do’s and don’ts after miscarriage, here are given the factors related with the pregnant women which might cause miscarriage-
- Prolonged illness
- Mother is aged
- Malformed uterus
- Mother is not fit medically
- Unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking or taking drugs
- Excessive stress
- Severe physical injury especially in the abdominal region
- Tumors in the uterus
- Hormonal problems
- Suffering from diseases like kidney problem, heart problem, thyroid, high blood pressure etc.
- Infection which is untreated
Severe pains in the stomach, genital region, bleeding which could be severe in some cases are the symptoms of miscarriage. Any abnormal pain or bleeding (even the slightest one) needs to be informed to the health care provider so that proper diagnosis is possible.From day one the pregnant women must follow advice of the doctor and it is a must in case she has experienced miscarriages earlier. Here are some of the do’s and don’ts after miscarriage –
- Avoid carrying heavy weights
- Heavy exercises should be avoided
- Smoking, drinking, drugs must be stopped
- Taking of excessive beverages should be avoided
- Follow healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and green and leafy vegetables
- Foods rich in vitamin C, zinc etc good for pregnancy and for preventing miscarriage
- Papaya, oranges, celery, fenugreek, asparagus ,almonds etc. must be included in the regular diet
- Try to lead stress free life after miscarriage
- Intake of pulses, sprouts etc. is good
- Fish are rich in omega 3 fats so these should be taken regularly
Miscarriages cause emotional and physical break down in the women so the people around her must act responsibly to help her overcome this.
