Ayurveda medicine states that the universe is composed of five elements –space, air, fire, water and earth called Panchabuthas. Every living being is a composition of these five basic elements and it is represented in the body as Doshas, Dhatus and Malas. Dosha is something that controls and maintains the body. There are three doshas Vata dosha (air), Pitta dosha (fire) and Kapha dosha (earth and water) they are known as tridoshas. Dhatus is body tissues which are the supportive parts of our body. They are seven plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, marrow and reproductive tissue. Malas are the body wastes such as urine, feces, sweat, saliva, tears and other secretions.
