During this same consultation appointment, the dentist will likely take an impression of your teeth. Then, do some simple shaving of your tooth structure, getting them ready for the porcelain front placements. You will wait a couple days while your porcelains are being created in a lab. Then, you will have your appointment where through a simple procedure the veneer is affixed to your tooth or teeth.
