What kind of changes Qigong facilitates within a person, what to expect and the four basic stages of Qigong during training.
The first component to Qigong is the cultivation of the mind and intention also known as the Qi and Yi. Although this can be achieved with physical exercise or movement, this is secondary to the cultivation of consciousness or mind. This can be as simple as counting one’s breaths or gently swaying back in forth. Sometimes this could also include holding one’s position for long periods of time, such as with their legs crossed.
The second purpose is to achieve optimal health and peace of the body and the mind, respectively. In most martial arts and other healing methods, the primary focus is on the health of the body. This is what makes Qigong a better rounded philosophy, completing the harmony of the body and mind.
The third is the process of healing that comes through body posture, breathing, and mental focus on the health of the body. This will teach and promote inner strength, reduce stress, increase flexibility, strengthen ligaments, and boost the immune system. Practitioners usually experience better balance and coordination.
The fourth and last component is with training over self-training or self care process and this is not a quick fix therapy. Many do depend on a Qigong master or expert to guide them on their path of improvement or pain relief. The benefits of Qigong are directly related by the individual’s commitment and dedication to the Qigong practice.
Qigong can be used in almost every aspect of life which makes it easier and more enjoyable for everyone. According to some statistics there are over 100,000 styles of Qigongin China these days. This number sounds staggering but the truth is this number could be as high as 6 billion different ways to practice “life energy” is everyone on this planet was to do so. This means that everyone could develop their own style that is unique to them.
