Step 1 – Find Your Height

One missed step on a ladder can cause serious injury, not to mention the dangers of falling branches and limbs.

Step 2 – Locations
Go online or in your yellow pages and make up a list of equipment locations in the area. Call each location and ask about availability and cost. Check on the stability issues as well as the height requirements you found in step 1. Inquire as to whether they provide demonstrations.

Step 3 – Pickup
Once you’ve chosen a location, schedule a date. Upon pickup, inspect the lift, checking for dents, blemishes, and scratches in order to make a record of the condition prior to use. Have one of the employees demonstrate that the unit it working properly.

Step 4 – Usage
Be sure to only use the lift in the ways outlined by the safely instructions from the rental store. Be sure the store knows just how you plan to use the machine, so they might make recommendations to help you with your project. Practice using the lift for a period of time before engaging in the tasks. Heavy equipment takes a little getting used to, and it can take some practice in order to feel comfortable operating.

Step 5 – Return
Once you’ve completed your project, it’s time to return your equipment. Be sure to make the return as quickly as possible in order to avoid any late fees or penalties. Always keep a copy of the rental agreement in case you notice an overcharge and need to dispute it down the road.
