What makes riding a motorcycle dangerous? Aside from riding without seatbelts and airbags to protect you during a crash, there are a lot of other things that can make motorcycling dangerous. What are these?  

Your skill as a rider can be tested by nature itself. Rain, strong winds, hail, ice and snow can make riding dangerous. You will be risking your safety if you choose to ride during these dangerous riding conditions. However, you can’t really avoid experiencing this difficult riding condition for the rest of your motorcycling years.

So it is best that as early as now you get familiar with the different riding conditions you’re about to face in the future. You need to learn also some tips on how to handle these dangerous riding conditions.

Wind – Strong wind can make riding very dangerous especially if you are riding against it. What you need to do is to reduce your speed and lean on your bike. If possible, steer your motorcycle towards the direction which the winds are coming from.

Rain – Riding a motorcycle when it’s raining is not a happy experience. Rain can make riding uncomfortable and dangerous because you have less traction on roads covered by water. Aside from the fact that you only have two tires to make contact with the road, your weight can’t provide enough pressure to make your tires get enough traction. So what does it mean? You are more prone to road accidents when raining.

Hail – Aside from the fact that it is uncomfortable to ride when hailing, riding during this weather condition is very dangerous. The roads are slippery and well test your concentration and control of the bike. If you are not careful, you’ll hit something and crash. It is best to decrease your speed, do not hurry because you might end up in the emergency room if you will.

Snow and Ice – Do not ride a motorcycle during this condition because you will only put your life at risk. This is the most dangerous weather condition a rider may experience and one that you should try to avoid at all cost. When ice and snow is present, you don’t have traction with the road and the next thing you’ll know you’re laying on the road.

Motorcycling is a dangerous activity already and riding during dangerous conditions can only make it worst. As much as possible avoid riding your motorcycle during this times. But if you can’t, it is best to decrease your speed and do not hurry getting into your destination.
