After all the holiday celebrations,6 Little Know Strategies To Lose Weight Articles do those jeans fit a little to tight? But you have tried all those well-known weight loss strategies, like eating more vegetables, limiting portions, and exercising more without much success.

Here are six lesser-known weight loss tips that could make you say "Oh wow! I'll try that today."  Almost everyone will find one or two fresh ideas from this list.  Some involve different ways to eat, adding certain foods to your diet, or learning new behavioral strategies to help you stay on track.

Weight Loss Tip #1:  Variety Is Overrated
Variety makes you eat more, not less. A common recommendation is to eat one bite of a variety of foods, but this recommendation is severally overrated.  Several studies, including some done by the American Dietetic Association, show that variety makes you eat more.

For example, serving catsup with french fries has shown that study participants consumed more food.  When whipped cream is served with brownies, they consumed more than when they were offered plain.

Other researchers have found that people who have been able to maintain weight loss tend to eat diets with limited variety.

Weight Loss Tip #2: Bring On the Frozen Vegetables
When faced with the need to wash and cut fresh vegetables, many will bypass the delicious and nutritious fresh vegetables and reach for the over processed high calorie chips.

For convenience, load up your freezer with frozen vegetables. Frozen vegetables are already clean, chopped, and ready to cook in the microwave. To make vegetables an easy snack food, cook the whole bag and store them in the refrigerator for quick access.

Weight Loss Tip #3: Make Yourself a Party Tray
The last time you went to a party, someone brought a big vegetable tray with some light dip on the side.  Everyone grabs a handful of those vegetables as an appetizer and the plate goes home empty.

If you are willing to make a vegetable platter for your friend's party, why not make one for you and your family members.  Food that is within reach and prepared is snacked on twice as often as food that requires preparation. Keep it in the fridge at eye level, encouraging you to snack healthy and avoid the higher-calorie contents of your refrigerator.

Weight Loss Tip #4: Changeup the Dinnerware
Researches say they've seen it again and again: The bigger the plate, the more you're likely to put on it. Use the smaller, lunch plates to serve dinner and use the dinner plates for salads.

Weight Loss Tip #5: Go Out for Treats
Make yourself work a little to get your favorite indulgence.  Don't keep them in the house, but give yourself permission to go out and get them when you really need to.  Want a frozen yogurt then take a trip to the nearest frozen yogurt shop.

The more energy it takes to get a unhealthy snack, the less likely you will eat them.  By allowing the road trip, you keep the consideration of deprivation away while you experience the declining sweet consumption.

Weight Loss Tip #6: Skinny Jeans Friday
Every Friday morning, try on a snug, but not impracticable to zip, pair of jeans.  Do this every Friday morning because weekends are usually a tougher time to keep on your diet.

If the pants are loose then you feel like you are making progress and stay the course during the weekend. Alternatively, if they are too snug then it is time to regroup and become remotivated so they will have a better fit next week.
