Acne is a common skin disorder that affects millions of people in different age. There are two main types of acne: non-inflammatory and inflammatory. Each of the types of acne symptom has its own characteristics.

 Acne is a common skin disorder that affects millions of people in different age. It varies from mild to sever cases and can appear on the face or cover the whole body with many painful red spots.
There are two main types of acne: non-inflammatory and inflammatory.

With inflammatory acne, the whiteheads get inflamed and it causes red pimples and pustules. In its most this severe form of acne can cause pitting scars of the face, neck, back, chest, and  requires prescription medicines or even surgery.

Each of the types of acne symptom has its own characteristics.  They can be treated differently and are of different levels of severity. 


When diagnosing the disorder, the following signs may be of helpful for you:

-  persistent, recurrent pimples, the skin swellings and the red spots keep coming back. These swellings are usually filled with pus and appear on the neck, shoulders, chest, back and the face.

- darker spots on the skin with open pores in the center (blackheads). It happens when the follicle plug made up of dead skin, dried sebum and hair cells all combine together to form painful bump or lesion on the skin. Blackheads are darker in color due to the presence of a skin compound called melanin. Incidentally, blackheads are not caused due to accumulation of dirt or dust.

-  pustules - red swellings or lumps, filled with pus. They are usually the secondary stages of blackheads or whiteheads.

-   the bulged spots under the skin without opening (whiteheads). The bump or lesions are simply skin colored or in other words, are white in color.

-  large inflamed fluid-filled lumps under the skin known as cysts . It requires medical care.


However,  in some severe cases the symptoms of acne can be similar to other diseases or conditions. For example, Acne Rosacea also produces Pustules (small, white blisters with pus) and Papules (small raised bumps) similar to Acne Vulgaris but requires a totally different treatments. The lesions turn then red and become swollen on account of inflammation or infection of the surrounding tissue. These are usually painful, feeling hard to the touch.
Sometimes, skin cancer symptoms are similar to acne symptoms at the very early stage of the disease development.
