All About Hair Cloning

In terms of science and biotechnology, cloning means creation of the exactly same organism taking a cell. In case of hair cloning, the hair and the follicle of a person is taken from the scalp and then it is cultured in the laboratory so that more hairs of the same type could be produced. This new achievement is showing a new direction for those who are suffering from hair loss. It could solve the problems of the bald people as many researches are happening regarding the hair cloning. Though scientists are trying out the hair cloning procedure but there are many difficulties which are still to be won in order to become successful in this field.

The hair cloning will definitely gain the edge over the other method like the hair transplantation. The first advantage of cloning would be that major surgery could be avoided. Hair transplantation do have some side effects as falling of hairs, itchy and swollen up scalp and other infections but hair cloning will take care of all these issues. The basic concept behind the hair cloning is the stem cells of epidermis. Stem cells can divide in unlimited manner and it can produce offspring which can change to various cell types.  In case of hair cloning the extraction, cultivation and stimulation of some cells and the special proteins are done which are-

• Derma papilla
• Derma sheath
• Keratinocytes
• Laminin-511

Hair cloning is still an ongoing process which is facing lots of obstacles and scientists and researchers are trying to find out the solutions to these obstacles. The main problems which are bothering the scientists are as follows-

• Inconsistent quantity of hair- Some successful generation of hairs have happened by the injection of dermal papilla cells but how far it will be successful it doubted by the scientists.
• It is very much difficult to have the differentiation of the cultured cells. Those dermal cells which are created in the culture environment might not have their genetic features after extraction is done.
• Hair alignment- After the formation of the hair follicle their alignment is also which is making the scientists having tough time. It is good to have hair by the use of hair cloning but proper alignment of the hair is also needed.

The hair cloning process is still under observation and people are working hard with it. They hope to overcome all the limitations of this process and bring success.
